After 6 hours of Time Series and Life Insurance at B701, I can’t afford to stay any longer. The MSc study room is just too depressing with me and Marios being the only 2 occupants. I placed the files in my room as soon as I reached home and went to Nandos straight away for dinner with Shameem - malas nak masak and plus, I’ve had enough of Malay dishes. After dinner, I don’t think I can continue more with Time Series even though I know I should continue. My eyes are just tired - it’s already red by now. With my waist in pain, I think I should rest now…
Time Series is just too hard to revise now. Not because the content is hard - but because it’s too easy! I got bored easily since I’ve done ALL the exercises so many2 times last year and have done appropriate notes for each topic. I used to love this subject last year and still do. But the thing is… I just got bored! I just hope I won’t face the same problem with my lovelife - love but bored to death! (Can you still call it ‘Love’ if you got bored with the person??) Nevertheless, I know I have to refresh my knowledge on Time Series.. So, how??? Takpe, apa-apa pun, tidur dulu.. Esok baru fikir… Good night!

By now almost all Malaysians in the UK have already knew about Siti’s performance at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall. It was awesome! Excellent! Rumbe Nallarekek! Bohut accha hai! She looked stunning on the stage (advert: Wardrobe by Radzuan Radzuill and shoes by Jimmy Choo) - just like a princess! Standing only 10 metres in front of me, she sang like the stage was made only for her. Hehehee… I got to sit at very next to the stage and had the opportunity to watch genuine, enthusiastic musicians in action. The bassist was the one that catch my eyes most of the time. He looked as if he was so deep into the music - no matter what genre. The flutist played the flute as if his lung contains infinite amount of air. Siti has definitely brought the best musicians in Malaysia. Ramli Rebana was an eye-catcher too.
The starting songs of the first segment were a bit boring coz they’re new songs that I am not so familiar with and during this time, I was busy playing with my phone recording songs and snapping photos of her on the stage. Then came the traditional numbers - perghh!! My legs couldn’t stay put looking at the Yayasan Warisan Johor’s dancers dancing boisterously. Had the bulky stage supervisor not standing there, I would’ve joined all of them on the stage (even though those people sitting around me were quite shy! What a boring crowd!!). Reminds me of my Cultural Consortium era, few years back. Pak Ngah Suhaimi the composer, was so happy with his accordian. Wish can play accordian like him.
Her singing skills and voice maturity has improved a lot in 10 years. It was apparent especially when she sang Jerat Percintaan. My mind was busy comparing her current voice & technique with the same Jerat Percintaan that I have in my laptop. Totally different! Well, some people just have a voice that will develop as they grow old. And as you practice, learn new singing techniques, your voice will improve too. No bunian-bunian or hantu raya. No one has ever been rich with the help of black magic as far as I know. Had she really used hantu raya or bunian, she would have been successful in less than 10 years. If anyone out there tries to do the arithmetic of Misha vs Siti, let me tell you something - Misha Omar’s talent & skill is nowhere near Siti Nurhaliza. I’d say Siti’s talent is incomparable with most of Malaysian female vocalists. She’s now on a par with famous Indonesian singers (Kris Dayanti, Ruth Sahanaya etc) or even Anita Sarawak!
Overall rating, I was very satisfied with Siti’s performance. No wonder she keeps winning awards every year. I didn’t feel my 40 quids was wasted. Apparently, me and the audiences at the RAH were not the only people got enthralled by her voice. From Kak Teh’s blog, I got to know that BBC sound engineers too were mesmerized by her voice while recording at BBC (the same day I bumped into Siti while on my
way to school). Royal Albert Hall’s CEO, David Elliot who couldn’t believe Malaysia has such a talented singer, even invited her for another performance at any time that suits her. Congratulations to Siti for such an excellent performance!
